A bit on me

Emergent Ventures grantee, Pareto fellow, Y Combinator founder.

  • Grew up in Toronto.
  • Self-taught across coding, electrical and mechanical engineering over the last decade.
  • Joined TKS at 13. Built ML and self-driving projects, and consulted for XPRIZE, Sidewalk Labs and Oxford Properties while still in school.
  • Tried to solve the open defecation crisis in Nigeria (big side quest).
  • Skipped university and moved into a retirement home in Scarborough to understand senior care from the inside. Life-changing, for the company and for me.
  • Built Fallyx, a wearable for fall detection, activity tracking and PERS. Got a patent on it. Backed by 186 Ventures and Wattpad cofounder Ivan Yuen.
  • Learned the real lever isn't hardware, it's infrastructure. Care teams are held back clinically, financially and operationally by work that doesn't move the needle.
  • Rebuilt the company as Ascenix. In 55 facilities across North America, team of seven.
  • Got into Y Combinator (F26) and moved to San Francisco.
  • Now, building the infrastructure that runs senior care.
